What CRS score is required for Canada PR 2023?

Every year thousands of skilled individuals migrate to Canada due to its declining workforce and as per the reports, Canada is aiming to welcome 465,000 permanent residents in 2023. Those who apply for Canada PR through Express Entry Program, which is a point-based immigration, have to score a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS). IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) conducts draws every two to three weeks, and candidates who score points above the minimum Canada CRS score threshold get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to be a permanent resident in Canada.

Minimum CRS Score Required for Canada PR 2023

The candidates applying for Canada PR through Express Entry Program must get a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSW assessment grid. Then they can live and work in Canada as IT professionals, in medical, and other in-demand jobs in Canada. Apart from Express Entry Program, other popular ways to get Canada PR include Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP).

CRS Calculator Criteria

Express Entry used the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to rank profiles in the pool. The score is based on two major factors -

  • Core factors - A total of 600 CRS points are awarded based on factors like Core/Human Capital, Spouse or common-law partner, and Transferability factors.

  • Additional factors - A maximum of 600 CRS points are awarded based on a valid job offer, Provincial Nomination, French language skills, Canadian education, and Siblings living in Canada as a citizen or permanent residents.

Ways to Improve Your CRS Score

In case you don’t score 67 points, here’s what you can do to increase your score -

  • Get an Education in Canada

Getting a degree or diploma from a recognized institution in Canada will earn you 30 points.

  • Work on your language proficiency

Scoring good bands in IELTS will help improve your CRS Score. For instance, if you achieve CLB level 9, it will earn you up to 136 points.

  • Get Provincial Nomination

Getting a Canadian provincial nomination will get you additional 600 CRS points, which will be added to your Express Entry profile.

  • Gain an LMIA job offer

Receiving a valid job offer by a Canadian employed and recognized by the Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) will add up to 200 points to your overall CRS score.
